discover the west of the Tarkine

In the West of the Tarkine, you can find yourself windswept on the huge expansive beaches, walking through button grass plains, or seeing the amazing deep forest further east.

At the coast, the wind is so strong that the sea is foamed around the rocky outcrops, with Tassie devils and wallabies roaming the coastal dunes. The indigenous heritage of this area is incredible, with middens covering entire dunes, petroglyphs on some of the beach boulders, and many other indigenous sites. With no landmass between this coast and the tip of South America, the Tarkine has some of the worlds wildest coastline.

At Arthur River town, you can rent out many of the locals cabins during peak season, and watch the tide come in and out from the mouth of the river.

You can also stay at the Corinna ecotourism village in the southern part of this region, and rent out their cosy cabins, or camp at their sites. Corinna is nestled in some of the Tarkine's luscious forest, and you can kayak or take a boat ride up the beautiful misty Pieman River.
